About Us

The Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home is an independent charity based in Gloucestershire, working to alleviate animal cruelty and suffering. They are run by Cotswolds, Gloucester & District RSPCA and have been in existence for over 80 years. Each year, they care for hundreds of animals who have been abandoned, mistreated and neglected. They ensure that they are given appropriate veterinary treatment, a safe place to stay and plenty of love, before they find a new family to call their own. In addition to their rehoming centre, CDCH also runs low cost welfare veterinary clinics for pet owners receiving means tested benefits helping over 800 animals each year. These clinics have a lasting impact on the local community, as they ensure that no animal suffers due to the cost of veterinary treatment.

Every animal that comes into their rescue centre sees a vet and receives a health check, is vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, neutered and micro-chipped and regularly checked by a vet throughout their time at CDCH. Their work with RSPCA Inspectors means that they deal with the worst cases of neglect, abuse and cruelty. Sadly, many of the animals that come into their care are in extremely poor health having suffered sustained abuse and neglect and need extensive veterinary support.
